If festive fun in a historic pub on the banks of the Thames sounds about right for your Christmas party then you should definitely check out the Trafalgar Tavern. Steeped in history, the charm of this 19th-century tavern remains intact, along with the late regency splendour that former locals, including Charles Dickens, would have enjoyed when it first opened.
This naval-themed Victorian tavern is situated just east of the Cutty Sark in the heart of Greenwich and enjoys wonderful views out over the river. In fact, when you’re in the building, it feels as though you’re floating on the river itself! Grand and thoroughly British, the Trafalgar Tavern has a number of options for those looking to host Christmas parties, from compact spaces for small festive meals to an entire floor for a company-wide Christmas bash.
The Nile restaurant on the ground floor, so named for Nelson’s victory at the Battle of the Nile in 1798, can be hired in its entirety for up to 100 seated or 250 standing guests, depending on whether you’re planning a sit-down Christmas lunch or dinner, or a standing cocktail reception and/or buffet. If you’ve got something a little more intimate in mind, the Ante Room on the first floor is ideal. Backing on to the private bar, the Ante room can accommodate seated parties of up to 30 or 100 standing and features wooden floors as well as the tavern’s signature floor-to-ceiling Regency windows overlooking the Thames, and the unrivalled views of London beyond. The Ante Room can also be hired with the Nelson Room for sole use of the first floor.
For large-scale corporate Christmas parties, the Nelson Ballroom is the obvious choice. Easily the grandest room in the building, it boasts huge windows overlooking the river, glittering chandeliers, and ornate plasterwork, with plenty of scope for festive decorations of your own. Classic elegance and contemporary style come together in this space to make it the ideal setting for a lavish Christmas bash for up to 350 standing or 220 seated guests.
Foodwise, there’s plenty of choice, from set menus to drinks packages and buffet/canape options. For full details, speak to the helpful staff at the Trafalgar Tavern who are on hand to advise further about packages and pricing.
