Boasting an all-day menu that stretches from filling hot breakfasts to late-night suppers, this versatile brasserie within the smart Rosewood London receives generous praise for "amazing ambience, very good food and great service".
The grand, marble-pillared room previously housed the underwriters at Pearl Assurance, and Martin Brudnizki's makeover captures that sense of heritage with a clubby look whose russet leather, tweed detailing, reclaimed oak, antique mirrors and patina copper-topped bars are both traditional and on-trend. Outside, meanwhile, the courtyard houses a tastefully elegant summer-only terrace that’s a plum spot for alfresco dining.
Prior to heading up the kitchen at Holborn Dining Room, Executive Head Chef Calum Franklin honed his skills at a variety of renowned London restaurants including The Ivy, Aurora at the Andaz Hotel, Indigo at One Aldwych Hotel and Roast in Borough Market. He brings his considerable talent and passion for beautifully hand crafted pies – among other things – to Holborn Dining Room’s crowd-pleasing British menu.
Recent highlights included a juicy shrimp burger lifted with jalapeno tartare, Cornish crab toast with avocado and Bloody Mary jelly, and indulgent sticky toffee pudding, all preceded by exemplary White Negronis. Elsewhere, you'll find classic seafood dishes, including Jersey rock oysters, hot buttered shrimps, and classic fish and chips with mushy peas, and a selection of pies made in Holborn Dining Room’s separate Pie Room. You’ll need to allow 30 minutes, but when the likes of curried mutton pie, and hand-raised pork pies arrive, you’ll swear it was worth the wait.
A decent wine list is handy, but it’s the Gin Bar that’s the real star of the drinks show here. Boasting London's largest collection of the spirit, the Gin Bar menu has been designed around the four main flavour profiles of the gin wheel to help you find your new favourite serve.
