A members’ club with serious character, Library can be found in the heart of buzzy Theatreland, making it a handy location for dinner and a show. Although Library is primarily a members’ club, the general public can eat at its restaurant St Luke’s and there are also plenty of options for private dining.
If you’re looking to organise a private dining function, Library has several spaces to choose from. The obvious choice would be to opt for St Luke’s, which takes its name from the patron saint of artists, bookbinders, brewers, butchers and stained glass makers (in fact, a stained-glass depiction of Saint Luke greets you upon entering the restaurant).
A charming, vintage-style space, the room features cosy blue banquette seating and a long communal table flanked by smaller circular tables for four along the sides. Adding to the rustic feel, tables can be adorned with flickering candles and piles of vintage books. The food menu at St Luke’s is overseen by head chef Alessio Piras, who has crafted a selection of dishes which speak to seasonality and make use of locally-sourced produce. For a seated dinner, St Luke’s is able to accommodate around 30 guests, while standing receptions can fit up to 50 attendees.
If you’re with a smaller crowd, we’d recommend hiring Library’s Room 7. This secluded room, away from the hustle and bustle of outside, has old-school charm in spades, boasting period features such as exposed brickwork and an open fireplace. The room benefits from plenty of natural daylight thanks to large windows, and also comes with AV equipment if you’re looking for a venue which can host presentations and product launches.
Library’s handy location really comes to the fore when you consider the potential to make dining here part of a night out at the theatre, perhaps as a show of corporate hospitality or some good old-fashioned team building. Regardless of what kind of event you’re looking to host, Library’s wealth of spaces should have what you’re looking for.
