Set in a heavenly position overlooking Lough Atalia and Galway Bay, the five-star g hotel is the creation of world-famous milliner Philip Treacy in his native Galway. The whole building is
certainly a statement, with the designer’s flamboyant touches evident throughout. The 101 bedrooms range from serene to spectacular (particularly the Linda Evangelista suite, which can accommodate
six for private dining), and all are equipped with top-end technology and crisp Treacy linens. Meeting rooms – to include a new 250-capacity suite from February 2013 – have a slick look that
contrasts with dazzlingly colourful public spaces like the restaurant, which serves up contemporary Irish cooking. ESPA at the g, set in a zen garden, is another highlight, featuring a clutch of
atmospheric treatment rooms, as well as a vitality pool. Rates are surprisingly attractive for a hotel of this standard too.
