Shoreditch hotel The Curtain made a big splash in the capital when it opened its doors in 2017, not least because of its cracking in-house soul food restaurant Red Rooster, which is found on the ground floor.
There’s more to The Curtain than just its food offering though, as the hotel also comes equipped with a variety of spaces that you can hire for private events. In fact, the diversity of The Curtain’s event spaces is truly impressive, ranging from a private dining room and boardroom, to a courtyard and screening room.
The venue’s largest space is The Burbage Room, which is named after the historic figure of James Burbage, the Elizabethan actor who is responsible for introducing The Globe Theatre to the capital. The Burbage Room is best suited to large-scale functions, able to accommodate 140 guests for a seated dinner followed by dancing, or up to 350 people for a standing Champagne and canapé reception. The minimalist space features exposed brick walls, imposing columns and polished wooden floors, so is truly a blank canvas which you can design your perfect event around.
If you’re looking to host a celebratory dinner or business lunch, you can hire Red Rooster’s private dining room. Away from the hustle and bustle of the main dining room, this is a vibrant and colourful space which features royal blue walls, studded leather sofas and a breath-taking light fixture which hangs over the central table. The room can host up to 20 people for a sit-down dinner where you can enjoy Red Rooster’s signature soul food dishes, including chicken and waffles or mac ‘n’ cheese served with collard greens. Alternatively, use the room for a standing reception, when there’s room for 28.
For corporate affairs, try out The Curtain’s 20-seat boardroom, which comes complete with complimentary WiFi, an Apple TV and plasma television screens. On the hunt for a more dynamic meeting space? Look no further than the Screening Room, a 35-seat lounge which boasts its own bar and is perfect for brainstorming sessions, film screenings and product launches.
The Curtain’s final event space is its split-level internal courtyard, which comes with booth seating, a private bar and a fully retractable roof – ideal for everything from summer drinks receptions to cosy winter set ups.
