Lindley has been voted one of the top ten places to live in the country, based on desirability & affordability. Yep, Lindley is what passes for posh in the M62 corridor, & you certainly get
more than a hint of northern chic in Vanilla – it’s all splashy art on brick walls, oversized white plates & glass basins in the ladies. It’s easy to be sniffy, but the food isn’t pretentious,
even if it sounds it. Seared duck foie gras with pineapple tart tatin & sauternes cream make kick start a meal, followed by Yorkshire lamb three ways (shepherds pie, kidney & lamb best end)
with swede fondant, spinach & red cabbage & roast lamb juices. It’s all cracking. Top tip: concentrate on the food, & zone out the St Tropez tans & hair extensions on the next
table.
