East 59th bills itself as a New York-style rooftop bar and grill, which means you can enjoy that quintessential New York experience, without having to leave Leeds.
East 59th operates with two distinct feels, dependent upon what time of day you visit. The restaurant opens every day of the week from midday, when it serves a menu of contemporary US top hits. In the evening however, it boasts a more sophisticated feel, thanks to the Manhattan-style atmosphere, expansive cocktail menu and range of substantial dishes such as steaks and burgers.
If you’re visiting for lunch, you can make the most of an all-day selection of egg dishes, ranging from the classics of eggs benedict and eggs royale to the more decadent scrambled eggs on toast topped with truffle shavings. Later in the day, you can kick-start your meal with starters such as crispy fried squid with a sweet chilli dip or buffalo chicken wings with a hot ‘n’ sour glaze.
For your main course, choose between American comfort food dishes such as a crispy chicken burger or baby back pork ribs, while those looking for something a little more virtuous can instead order roasted cauliflower with a truffle pistachio crumb. Round off your meal with tempting desserts including sticky toffee pudding, or a double chocolate brownie topped with salted caramel ice cream, a dollop of whipped cream and lashings of chocolate sauce.
East 59th is a great spot for indulging in liquid pleasures too, thanks to a nifty little option which allows you to add free-flowing bubbles or Bloody Marys for 90 minutes to any ordering two or more courses.
East 59th is the first Leeds location for restaurant group D&D London, who mainly operate sites in the English capital (most famously Coq d’Argent and German Gymnasium), but also have outposts in Manchester, Birmingham, Paris and New York.
