This recently renovated bar just off the bottom end of the Royal Mile will be well-known to anyone who has attended Festival shows at the Pleasance. Dark and chic, with silver stags’ heads adorning
the walls, what was once a student goth hangout has been transformed into an altogether hipper establishment that has flourished accordingly. You can eat in the packed bar area, but it’s better to
head down to the tables at the far end of the place if you want to sample Holyrood’s famous ‘two-handers’ – a range of 20 stunningly good burgers with various flavours and toppings.. Alternatively,
big breakfasts, hefty steaks, sharing boards and salads are top shouts from the all-day menu. To drink, there’s an impressive roster of craft beers and real ales, including the house brew from
Williams Bros in Alloa.
