Slightly tucked away, but worth discovering, The Terrace Bar at The Chesterfield Hotel in Mayfair is all decked out in tartans and leather. The place is welcoming to children as well as grown-ups, with something on the menu to please everyone. The kitchen is a champion of casual dining; smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, smart sandwiches and the likes of beer-battered fish & chips should sort out the hungry (there’s a children’s menu too, full of things that both kids and their parents will approve of). The drinks list is all encompassing, running from well-mixed cocktails to whisky flights and wine tastings – as well as good coffee and an impressive beer cellar. And just to make sure the evenings are full of laughter and vivacity, there’s live music to keep the crowd entertained.
