Mayfair was a sound choice for chef Sofian Msetfi's next move. A glance around the luxuriously appointed basement dining room within Flemings Hotel reveals diners who are doubtless familiar with London’s exclusive restaurant scene. Msetfi, with his wealth of experience (Hand and Flowers, Longridge Restaurant and Michelin-starred Adare Manor), knows how to cook for this crowd and has a network of local suppliers providing stellar produce: oysters, lobster, crab and fashionable sea vegetables.Ormer explores such ingredients in a repertoire that includes a £50 five-course lunch, a £70 seven-course tasting menu, à la carte, and both vegetarian and vegan menus. Msetfi's ‘signature’ plates are the best place to start, whether a classy dish of Cornish crab with lime and avocado in a spiced broth, or assertively flavoured poached lobster with tomatoes, pine nuts and basil. Newer plates such as warm ibérico ham with Parmesan, apple and nasturtium are just as beautifully executed. Truffled honeyed ice cream finish things off perfectly. Flemings has backed a thoroughbred in Msetfi.

Ormer Mayfair’s menu offers seasonal British produce including fresh seafood, locally sourced ingredients and foraged herbs. From 19th May, we will be offering Tasting Menus (including a vegetarian tasting menu) ranging from five courses for lunch and either seven and nine courses for dinner.
