The reconfigured 12th-floor sky-bar at this Hilton hotel owes its new name to a dull side street adjacent, rather than anything especially wild. Cheap plastic palms in summer 2018’s alfresco Beefeater Pink bar aside, any ‘brutally botanical vibe’ is to be found in the ambitiously priced cocktails – Wild Poison, for instance (smoked pine syrup and cloudy apple juice in bourbon, Campari and apricot brandy). There are two narrow linear decked terraces: one containing parasols under which Ray Ban-wearing guests shelter from the sun; the second (available for private hire) covered over with what looks like an elongated corporation bus shelter. We prefer the metallic, marmalade-tone lounge bar with its semi-circular plush booths, and a third smaller terrace that overlooks Tower Bridge and The Shard – a super spot for sundowners. Bar food covers everything from charred radishes to tempura oysters, via hefty meat or seafood sharing platters for four.
