Based on Belgravia’s Motcombe Street, multi-storey restaurant and shopping arcade Pantechnicon features a variety of different Japanese- and Nordic-inspired shops and food spots over five floors. The ground floor plays host to the UK’s first Café Kitsuné, while up on the second floor is traditional Nordic restaurant Eldr; however, Pantechnicon’s real wow-factor comes in the form of the third floor, all season Roof Garden. Serving a Nordic food and drink menu throughout the day and evening, The Roof Garden is designed to be relaxed setting to get together, while enjoying some great food and interesting drinks.
Boasting an impressive, expansive retractable roof, The Roof Garden can be enjoyed all year round regardless of the weather. The garden itself was designed by Finnish horticulturalist Taina Suonio and is the perfect spot to soak up some sun during the day, or gaze up at the stars while enjoying a few drinks in the evening.
Food-wise, the seasonal menu on offer at The Roof Garden is comprised of Nordic small plates and covers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Dishes from head chef Joni Ketonen might include halibut with celeriac and dill, and chicken with lovage and chard truffle butter; while vegetarian options range from beetroot macadamia served alongside sea beet and mushrooms, to pumpkin with white beans, truffle and Västerbotten. You can also expect a selection of puddings such as apple with oats and cinnamon.
When it comes to drinks, it’s all about the cocktail menu which changes regularly depending on the season. Each cocktail on offer has been specially developed by resident mixologists from the Nordics, meaning that every combination is worth a try. A variety of other alcoholic and soft drinks are also available. So, next time you’re looking for some Nordic nosh and tempting drinks in a striking setting, Pantechnicon’s Roof Garden could be just the spot.
