Found on the second floor of Belgravia’s Pantechnicon - a creative space designed to celebrate both Nordic and Japanese craftsmanship - Eldr is a restaurant and bar focused on offering simple, modern Nordic dishes, in a relaxed setting. Serving a varied, all-day menu, you’ll be guaranteed to find something that takes your fancy at Eldr, regardless of when you’re visiting.
The modern and spacious dining room benefits from skylights which allow natural light to flood into the restaurant. Rustic exposed brickwork contrasts with elegantly-crafted Scandinavian furniture to give the place a fashionable feel, while a mishmash of plants and various pieces of pottery line the walls for a touch a homeliness. The open kitchen, built around a wood-fired grill, allows guests to watch the chefs prepare the food.
The seasonal menu is predominantly based around the use of traditional Nordic cooking techniques such as fermenting, curing and smoking, while also showcasing locally sourced British ingredients. Starters on offer might include scallops served with leek, mussel sauce and reindeer, and vegetarian dishes such as radish and greengage with almond dressing. When it comes to main courses, you can expect everything from cod served alongside smoked cream and mushrooms, to beef fillet with barley, beetroot and kale. While desserts such as meringue with blackberries and cardamom, and chocolate with quince and liquorice are the ideal way to finish off your meal.
Drinks-wise, the wine list at Eldr largely consists of low-intervention and biodynamic wines, with bottles to accompany everything on the menu. On top of this there are a number of different cocktails on offer, made using Nordic spirits, as well as a selection of non-alcoholic drinks too.
Whether you’re visiting Eldr for a full three-course Nordic banquet, or simply to have a few dishes and cocktails while catching up with friends, you’ll be sure to have a memorable experience.
