Situated in the Grade II-listed Barbican, Osteria serves innovative and classic Italian dishes, with a focus on fresh and seasonal ingredients. The restaurant is a perfect setting for couples, with guests being able to enjoy romantic window-side views of the Barbican water gardens
The bar and restaurant have an intimate and relaxed decor, with low-level lighting and subtle music. The drinks selection includes a diverse range of Negronis and Bellinis, from which we sampled the Kingston, which had a sweeter taste than your standard Negroni thanks to the addition of high-quality Jamaican rum, expertly mixed with Campari and Cinzano Rosso. From the food menu, we were impressed by the grilled sardine dish, which contained a variety of different textures and flavours, the sweet raisins and flaked sour pickled shallots sitting atop the crispy and fresh fish.
To finish, there’s a selection of refreshing boozy sorbets, flavoured with Negroni, Aperol Spritz and Prosecco, and served in a Martini glass. Osteria will appeal to both theatre goers looking for a pre- or post-show meal, as well as those seeking quality Italian food and drinks in a quiet, informal setting.
