Inspired by the traditional cuisine in his native Naples, Aniello Lena’s homely restaurant in Battersea offers a varied menu full of Italian favourites. Starters include creamy burrata with bread and olives, while mains range from the usual pizzas and pastas through to an entire page of seafood specials. Dessert, if you have room, takes the form of classic tiramisu, profiteroles and ice-cream-based sundaes. Presentation was rather hit-and-miss on our visit, but portion sizes are spot on and dishes inexpensive. Once seated, the friendly staff circulated to ensure we were kept topped up with drinks, which include a small selection of wines, cocktails, beers and softs. If the sun’s out, you might be tempted to sit out front on one of two dinky tables, but be warned – Lena’s is on a noisy main road.
