Le Paris Grill has been a staunchly patriotic, family-run stalwart on Crutched Friars in the City for more than three decades and recently spawned a new outlet on Little Britain. Occupying a basement close to St Paul’s, this latest incarnation is also all about charcoal-grilled steaks with hand-cut chips – from 28-day aged Scottish sirloins and Irish fillets to 750g ribs for sharing. Non-steak mains range from roast duck breast with a duck-leg shepherd’s pie or grilled swordfish with sauce vierge to tomato and basil tarte Tatin, while chalked-up plats du jour supplement the regular menu with the likes of cassoulet Toulouse or grilled veal chop with Madeira sauce. The wine list is naturally dominated by France, with plenty of beefy reds on show; otherwise opt for bière or a shot of absinthe.
