The menu at this Spitalfields joint couldn’t be simpler, with just one main course consisting of sliced sirloin steak on a rocket and parmesan salad, served with potatoes – i.e. beef tagliata. There’s also a single starter too (freshly made pasta with a choice of three sauces), while pudding gives at least some variety – take your pick from tiramisu, pannacotta or a plate of Italian cheeses. Prices weigh in at £19 for a main course on its own, and the food is backed by an all-Italian wine list offering bottles from exclusive boutique vineyards rarely seen in the UK. As for the decor, expect something resembling a villa with lots of intimate little rooms – ‘the pantry’, ‘the library’, ‘the study’ and so on. Each one can be reserved for private dining.
