Owners Katherine Locke and Adrian Everitt bought this little Peugeot J7 after checking out the cool pizza vans that pitch up in towns across the south of France. They wanted to re-create the same experience at home, and the result is Jalopy – a funky vehicle with a wood-fired oven that can produce delicious crispy bases and fresh, colourful toppings based on authentic ingredients (including Italian ‘00’ flour). This kooky outfit is best sampled on Friday evenings (4-9pm), when it’s parked up in Bridport’s Vintage Quarter and people gather around the antique shops and artists’ studios to graze and shoot the breeze. Jalopy also pops up at the same times in Beaminster’s town square (Thursdays), and in Queen Mother Square in Poundbury, Dorchester (Wednesdays throughout the summer).
