A local institution and a must-try for visitors to Harrogate, family-run Graveleys is unmistakable with its extravagant black frontage, ornate lettering, hanging baskets and big advertising boards displaying some of the day’s wares. Old-fashioned seafood cookery is the kitchen’s stock in trade, with ‘jumbo’ fish and chips naturally topping the bill – although the menu covers a lot of ground for young and old alike. Kick off with lobster and prawn bisque or sautéed scallops with bacon and garlic butter, move on to a seafood mixed grill, fish pie or roast cod with champ and parsley sauce, then round things off with one of the homemade puds.
