Situated just outside Marlow town centre (but very easy to get to by car), light, bright recently-refurbished Glaze is the flagship restaurant of Marlow’s Crowne Plaza hotel. Featuring marble tiles and tables, plush green banquette seating and stylish lighting, it's a pleasant setting in which to enjoy a meal.
The modern European cooking is based on tried-and-tested combinations of ingredients with the odd cheffy flourish. Confit duck terrine with a Madeira Jelly, apricot chutney and orange gel might be followed by lemon sole and king scallops wrapped in filo pastry, accompanied by braised salsify roasted in scallop roe.
Simpler tastes are accommodated with soup of the day and fillet steak with chips, there’s crème brûlée and chocolate bavarois for pud while the table d'hôte set menu features favourites such as moules marinière, lamb shank and Eton mess for a good-value £25.95/£30.95 for 2/3 courses.
Early birds can take advantage of the breakfast buffet, while all-day light bites are available in the neighbouring Aqua Bar and Conservatory, which is where you’ll also find afternoon team, with finger sandwiches, pastries and scones with clotted cream and jam served overlooking the hotel’s terrace and lake.
