When Galvin Hop first opened its doors, it was a pub de luxe serving up gourmet hot dogs and draught beers. Now it’s morphed from pub into Galvin Bistrot & Bar, the name previously associated with their now closed but much loved Marylebone restaurant, a bistrot de luxe where a Michelin star was matched by everyday prices and fans universally felt at one with the world.

They are hoping to recreate this in Spitalfields with a small bistro menu touting Alsatian tarte, soupe de poisson or steak tartare followed by fish of the day, entrecote steak or mushroom and pea linguini. To drink, there are still copper tanks above the bar which serve unpasteurised, fresh Pilsner Urquell, though wine is a more prominent feature, often from small producers in France, or there’s the more extensive list from la Chapelle for connoisseurs. The interior is a homage to French bistro culture with its bentwood chairs and leather banquettes, blackboards, mirrors and wine posters. The garden remains a hidden jewel.

We deliver nationwide in England and Wales on Fridays and Saturdays. Alternatively, if you are local to us you can collect your order in person on Friday & Saturday between 10am and 3pm from Galvin Bistrot & Bar in Old Spitalfields Market, London, or between 12pm and 4pm on Saturdays from the Galvin Green Man near Chelmsford, Essex.

had a lovely table inside, sadly there was a rather raucous table next to us, which spoiled the atmosphere of a  very special occassion, but that was unavoidable given the circumstances  - and surely not the fault of the restauant  - food and drink highly recommended

first Galvin disappointment in 4 years.
After the visit, few months ago at La Chapelle. I thought it was time to pay a visit to the “Pub” of the Galvin brothers, near Spitalfield market. Once you step in the “HOP” your attention goes at the Pub counter, where a big beer copper tank, hanging near the ceiling, gives a warm eastern pub feeling to the room. Feel like hopping their again
My dinning companion and I had exactly the same food. We chose the lamb flat bread and chocolate choux. it was delicious and reasonably price. Perfect for lunch time fair. I'll go again for sure.
