Tom Kerridge's newest London restaurant Bad Vegan is the celebrity chef's first plant-based venture and is setting up shop in Camden's Buck Street Market. The Michelin-starred chef has teamed up with branding expert Mark Emms to open up the new site, which offers a menu focused around vegan food but also serves non-vegan sides and toppings, hence the name Bad Vegan. Tom Kerridge had become renowned in the UK for his crowd-pleasing style of food and you can expect more of the same at Bad Vegan with the only difference being that meat won't be at the forefront of any of the dishes.
The restaurant finds its home inside two shipping containers at Camden's Buck Street Market. The Buck Street complex opened in 2020 on Camden High Street and brings together a variety of ethically minded shops, restaurants and street food vendors over three floors, with each outlet based inside a converted shipping container. Bad Vegan's sustainable ethos clearly fits with that of Buck Street Market, making it the perfect spot for the brand's first outpost.
The reason behind Bad Vegan's decision to still serve some meat, fish, and dairy products in the restaurant is that it wants to encourage people to start incorporating a higher level of plant-based products into their diets without completely alienating them. That's why toppings such as bacon and cheese will still be available. However, if you are fully vegan, there's no need to worry as Bad Vegan is still predominantly a vegan restaurant and has made sure that there are designated areas in the kitchen for non-vegan food to avoid contamination and crossover.
By way of drinks at Bad Vegan, we have little information as of yet, but we do know that there will be a selection of vegan shakes available to go alongside the food.
