Prix Fixe Primrose Hill
Another dinner at this restaurant showed it's still good, with interesting ingredients and good cooking. My starter of broccoli and greens soup with thin crispy crostini was light and pleasant, as was the garden salad with tomatoes, goat cheese and pomegranate, with really crusty rye bread rolls. Our main courses were very good - steamed sea bass with prawn & chive dumplings, bok choy, carrot puree & crab bisque sauce went down well, with a side order of triple cooked chips which were perfect - crunchy outside and fluffy inside. My herb crusted hake with lobster risotto was excellent, with nice chunks of juicy lobster. Dessert sounded too good to miss. The treacle tart with raspberry sorbet wasn't quite as expected, the tart filling being a bit thin and runny though the raspberry sorbet was fresh and zingy. The chocolate fondant with salt caramel ice cream was yummy with plenty of caramel sauce and crunchy caramel chippings with the ice cream. Service was rather slow, we weren't in a hurry so it didn't matter, but did notice at one point that not one table in the room had any food in front of them. Everyone was having a good time though with friends and family so it didn't seem to be a problem, and we'd be happy to go back again.
