About The Savoy

Description

It is almost impossible to find someone (at least in the UK) who hasn’t heard of the iconic hotel The Savoy. Located on the Strand and a integral part of London’s history, holding an event in one of its many private dining rooms is bound to impress even the fussiest of clients.

Depending on the size of your meeting or event, The Savoy has a dining room to cater to almost anyone. From the small and well-lit Sorcerers room which was created in the 1920s and has a magical feel about it especially at night, to the bigger West Room with space for up to 100 people, The Savoy caters to all.

For those looking for an in-between the Iolanthe room is the ideal for longer corporate business meetings. With the most natural light of all the private dining rooms flooding in, luxurious wood panelling along the walls and stunning stone pillars this opulent room means business but still looks stylish and inviting.

For more intimate evening events, The Mikado Room is a medium sized room that can be paired with the Sorcerer room if needed but is just as impressive on its own.  With art-deco style mirrors, comfy seating and wooden panelled walls (a prominent theme in the Savoys’ private dining rooms) this room has a welcoming and inviting feel to it.

Perhaps the most opulent of all the dining rooms, the Venetian themed Gondoliers Room pays homage to Italian design with intricate murals painted on the walls, great lighting and stunning table décor this room is best suited to dinners as the art-work you’re surrounded by is to beautiful not to look at.

Other rooms worth mentioning are the Pinafore and West rooms for when you want to entertain a larger number of guests at this incredibly iconic London landmark.

Iolanthe

Iolanthe

18 seated capacity

Iolanthe is elegantly panelled in light oak and suitable for dining and business meetings. It was a favourite of Sir Winston Churchill who regularly lunched here with his Cabinet during World War II. So that he could have a nap after lunch, a bedroom at the hotel was kept on permanent standby for him. This was one of the original private dining rooms when The Savoy opened in 1889.

The club was founded by Sir Winston Churchill and Lord Birkenhead in 1910 for distinguished figures from the world of politics and the media.

Princess Ida + Patience

38 seated capacity

Overlooking the Thames, this room has a double name because it was originally two separate private dining rooms when the hotel opened in 1889. The wall between the rooms was removed in 1935, but otherwise the décor appears much as it would have been when the hotel first opened.
