Having recently been refurbished the Boat Inn, headed up by Liam Dillion, formerly of Marcus Wareing at The Berkeley, took over the restaurant in 2017 introducing new and exciting dishes inspired by his time in Australia.
Championing the ‘produce is king’ motto the Boat Inn serves up unique dishes using only the finest quality ingredients. Featuring stylish traditional furniture and rustic touches, the moment you walk into the venue you’ll feel completely at ease.
Offering two different dining areas and hosting up to 40 guests not only can diners enjoy the great food on offer, but they can watch it being cooked from the open kitchen too. On the menu you’ll find the likes of quail with Jerusalem artichoke, venison haunch with potato terrine and Lichfield raspberries with an egg custard tart and yoghurt sorbet.
The chef’s table is also a must try experience. Your guests will get a chance to watch all the action right in front of them and it is a fantastic way to get people talking and mingling before tucking into a fantastic meal they witnessed being made.
The comfortable and relaxed atmosphere the restaurant has makes for a great space to entertain guests. If you are planning a slightly bigger function, the restaurant is also available for exclusive hire to accommodate all your guests.
You can also pick between set menus and a 12 course tasting menu which features the likes of sweetbread, foie gras and venison. On the set lunch menu you’ll find pig cheek with wild mushroom pappardelle, roast chicken with squash and a rhubarb custard tart with yoghurt sorbet.
Located north of Birmingham in Lichfield, for those not local to the area it's a nice excuse to explore this corner of the UK, and the food, décor and ambience definitely makes a trip to the midlands worth it.
