Everyone’s favourite flat-pack furniture shop, IKEA, is hosting a Christmas buffet this festive season.
Whether you like it or not, Christmas is almost upon us which means it’s time to start preparing and getting in the mood for the biggest day of the year in the form of an all you can eat buffet at IKEA.
On 13 December, the Swedish furniture store will be hosting a buffet to celebrate one of the biggest events of the Swedish year – Santa Lucia.
Santa Lucia (known as St Lucy’s Day in English), is an annual candlelit procession that takes place on the longest night of the year. Whoever is chosen to take on the role of St Lucia, wears a crown of candles while leading a line of other candle bearing people behind her.

As with any good holiday, there is lots food involved so if you plan on heading down to IKEA's Santa Lucia celebration, expect the likes of marinated salmon, cheese, gingerbread, different types of cabbage, potatoes and eggs.
For those wondering, yes IKEA's iconic Swedish meatball will also be making an appearance at the festive buffet.
Alongside the very appealing sounding Swedish buffet there will also be a traditional candlelit procession, but as of yet there is no word on who will be the acting St Lucia to lead the ceremony. Singing, mulled wine and Swedish saffron buns are also on offer during the ceremony to keep people warm and merry as they watch the white robed procession walkers pass them.
