Best Christmas sandwiches: Where to get your fill this festive season

There are lots of things we look forward to during the build up to Christmas. Buying advent calendars, drinking all the hot chocolate we can stomach, visiting every cosy igloo within the M25 and of course eating as many Christmas sandwiches as we possibly can.

You’ll be happy to know that it is time to ditch your go to meal deal and usual Pret sandwiches for the rest of the year because its Christmas sandwich time. It doesn't get much better than heading down to your local supermarket or café on a dreary winter day to get what is essentially a roast dinner in between two slices of bread. Plus, with so many different variations to choose from you won’t get bored in the way you most likely do with your everyday sandwich choice. It is true what they say, everything really is better at Christmas.

Pret

Taking all the ingredients from the traditional Christmas sandwich including turkey, herb and pork stuffing and port and cranberry sauce, it’s now available on Pret’s Gluten free bread as an open sandwich. The classic Christmas lunch and veggie version are back and since it was so popular in the summer, the Pret lobster roll is back for the festive season too.

Morrisons

What: Wensleydale & Spiced Fruit Chutney
Why:
Claiming it tastes like a mince pie, this new Christmas sandwich, which has been added to Morrisons' Christmas 2019 menu, may be the answer to you wanting to eat dessert for lunch, but not wanting to feel guilty. The Wensleydale in this lunchtime sarnie is topped with mince pie-spiced chutney, which is  all wrapped in a panettone bread roll. We think that it sounds like the perfect balance of sweet and salty and couldn’t be anymore Christmassy if it tried. Other sandwiches you can buy off this year’s Christmas menu include the Yorkshire pudding wrap.
