This 300-year-old Grade I-listed stately home has become a much-sought-after wedding venue. There are seven richly decorated function rooms to choose from: the French Dining Room is the largest, with its standing capacity of 100.

Compton Verney has been long known to the film industry for its handsome appearance. More recently, its Grade I-listed chapel has been restored to its founding glory, while outside there’s a lawn area for marquees and 120 acres of Capability Brown-designed parkland.

Set in 3,000 acres of countryside, and only an hour from London, the Jacobean-style Eynsham Hall was built just over 100 years ago. Our pick for wedding breakfasts is the oak-panelled Green Room, where arched windows look out over landscaped gardens.

The 18th-century Grade I-listed mansion is a five-star treasure trove of spaces, from the elegant Ballroom to the walnut-panelled Churchill Room. With 1,000 acres of Capability Brown-designed parkland and formal Italian gardens around the main house, there’s no shortage of photo locations either.

With views over 66 acres of parkland, Tylney Hall is a picturesque spot for weddings. We like the baronial Tylney Suite, with its oak panelling and minstrel gallery, as well as the self-contained Hampshire Suite, which has its own walled garden. Outdoor ceremonies can be held in the stone gazebos in the Italian gardens.

Built around 1860, Inglewood Manor is a Grade II-listed country house hotel laden with period features. The oak-panelled Executive Room is a handsome setting for weddings, and so too is the high-ceilinged Ledsham Room. The purpose-built Burton Suite has french doors opening onto the gardens.

Built in 1852 for a sugar magnate, Grade II-listed Clevedon Hall is a sweet spot for weddings. In particular, the Grand Library is a fine setting for banquets (created and served by an impressive in-house team). Step outside and you’ll find well-kept gardens that include a gazebo licensed for ceremonies.

This beautiful manor house, which dates back to 1866, is surprisingly unstuffy. The handsomely furnished exclusive-use venue offers couples the chance to host 82 guests overnight, providing a proper party vibe. Civil ceremonies can take place inside and out, plus there’s a church by the driveway.

This five-star country house hotel is set in a 130-acre estate on the edge of Hampshire’s New Forest. Its walled kitchen garden hosts ceremonies for up to 80 guests. Banquets for 140 or ceremonies and drinks receptions for 180 can be held in the Lake Suite.
