Dating back to 1790, this gothic stately home makes a striking backdrop for weddings. Set in 26 acres of 500-year-old parkland, its grounds include woodland and a deer park – not a bad setting for wedding photos. It opened for exclusive use in 2016, and comes with its own chapel.

Set at the foot of the South Downs, this 12,000-acre estate has plenty of wedding spaces to inspire. The grand house itself dates back 300 years, while our favourite spot within is the restored State Apartments. The Kennels provides a stylish, more modern backdrop for nuptials.

This beautiful Victorian mansion is set in 186 acres of landscaped Sussex countryside, with lawns, lakes and woodland trails through Ashdown Forest. We like the Richard Towneley Suite, a converted chapel with a vaulted ceiling lit by stained-glass windows. Outdoor ceremonies can take place in the Summer House.

Landscaped gardens lead into traditional reception rooms and elegant banqueting suites, making this a desirable wedding venue. The Harcourt Ballroom has its own kitchens, which can be used by outside caterers, while accommodation is available within the 35-acre site for the happy couple.

Dominating the promenade at Eastbourne since 1875, this majestic hotel epitomises the Victorian seaside resort in all its grandeur. Part of the Elite Hotels group, The Grand has an impressive façade and selection of function rooms for weddings – many with sea views.

This Grade I-listed venue is right in the centre of Warwick. A former courthouse dating back to 1750, the Palladian-style building has plenty of character. Within, the Georgian Grade II-listed Judges’ House offers elegant spaces for wedding breakfasts and ceremonies.

Amid the 1,065-acre Capability Brown-designed parkland of Luton Hoo Hotel is Warren Weir. At the foot of a lake, this secluded, exclusive-use venue offers plenty of verdant backdrops for wedding photographs, plus 84 bedrooms for overnighters.

Carden Park Hotel is known as ‘Cheshire’s country estate’, as it’s located within 1,000 acres of countryside. Of the main reception rooms, we like the Shooting Suite, which is furnished with oak beams and open fireplaces. Come summer, the Wedding Pavilion can host 120 people outdoors for a picturesque gathering.
