The Ivy Chelsea Garden brings the timeless charm of the West Street original to a bigger, airier site on the King’s Road. Newlyweds can make the most of its space by hiring the restaurant exclusively for a wedding breakfast. Smaller groups can celebrate in the botanical-themed private room, where floral arrangements and place settings can be designed just for you.

This is no ordinary pub. Named after the renowned master builder, the property was the first to be taken over by the Cubitt House group, which wasted no time turning it into an elegant wedding venue. For smaller dos, the Atrium offers a bright, antique-laden den for 20, while the L-shaped Drawing Room showcases some striking floral wallpaper.

This luxury hotel has several event spaces suitable for wedding receptions, but the Courtyard is the most spectacular. A terraced area with a retractable roof that’s suitable come rain or shine, it also has a cosy open fire and a plant-filled garden wall that gives a sense of peace in the middle of the city.

This four-floor Knightsbridge restaurant works well for smaller wedding breakfasts. Our favourite spot is the 46-capacity First Floor, an airy space with large sash windows, an original fireplace and antique lamps – perfect for photos. Come winter, the open fires make the main restaurant a cosy option.

This hotel and pub is located a couple of streets north of Marble Arch. Billing itself as a ‘country pub in the city’, this smart yet relaxed wedding venue makes the most of its original open fireplaces and large sash windows. They let the light shine in on detailed wood panelling, taxidermy and a statement solid-oak bar.

For those who want their nuptials to be a glamorous affair, a wedding at this elegant Victorian townhouse hotel in South Ken is a strong choice. Special occasions take place in the Town House, which comprises three bright interconnected rooms featuring details such as a hidden whisky bar. Menus feature seasonal dishes, which are complemented by an excellent wine list.

Amid distressed furniture and whitewashed walls, there are five stylish spaces here available for breakfasts and receptions. For smaller wedding breakfasts, the 18-seat Henry Guest banqueting table commands the ground-floor restaurant. On the lower-ground floor, the Garden Atrium Bar offers a pretty location for drinks and photos.

Antique chandeliers, brocade drapes and rolling lawns – this venue has all the elements in place for a classic wedding, including a spectacular courtyard. Caterer Party Ingredients delivers menus such as wedding afternoon teas with duck spring roll canapés, traditional sandwiches, cakes and scones.

‘Smiths' at Cannon Street
This younger sibling of ‘SMITHS’ of Smithfield opened on Cannon Street in late 2016. A modern City restaurant, it focuses on seasonal British produce, and can provide a bespoke menu with paired wines for lively wedding breakfasts.
