This majestic venue has been hosting weddings since 1996 and is a popular venue among Essex locals looking to tie the knot, not least because of its easily accessible location just two minutes from Colchester station.
Best Western Rose and Crown Hotel has two event suites to choose from, each with unique features. The romantic Oak Room is one of the original spaces in the hotel, complete with gorgeous oak beams and a roaring fireplace which add a real sense of romance. It can seat up to 160 guests for a wedding breakfast and formal evening reception, when guests can tuck into a menu including the likes of pan-roasted chicken supreme with brandy cream sauce or roasted short loin of pork paired with apple sauce.
For more intimate ceremonies, wedding parties can choose the Rose suite. This self-contained function room boasts a separate entrance, as well as its own bar, toilets and dance floor. Oak panelled walls reflect the room’s rich history, while natural daylight stops the room from looking too dark. The Rose suite can host up to 80 guests for a seated wedding breakfast, and 100 guests for an informal standing reception in the evening.
Of course, the obvious benefit of getting hitched in a hotel is the option of on-site accommodation, with the Best Western Rose and Crown hotel boasting 39 rooms for your guests to make use of. The happy couple meanwhile will be treated to a complimentary stay in one of the hotel’s four rooms that come complete with four-poster beds.
All of the hotel’s range of packages also include use of a silver cake stand and knife for cutting your wedding cake, as well as use of a red carpet upon arrival.
