About

Founded by entrepreneur Tomas Tómasson, this punky mini chain of Icelandic ‘burger joints’ is now making a name for itself in London – although diminutive Tommi’s feels more like America than the icy north with its bare brick walls, movie posters and stateside memorabilia. The kitchen makes use of a US charcoal grill, but their beef is Aberdeen Angus and buns are sourced from a local baker. Intriguing monthly specials add variety to the short menu (check out the Italian version loaded with Parma ham and pesto), and punters have unbridled access to the vast relish tray – don’t miss the Icelandic ‘cocktail sauce’ (used like ketchup in the home country). With prices so low, we'd also recommend splurging an extra quid on some béarnaise sauce to dunk your sweet potato fries in. Imported Icelandic ice creams and Viking beer strike a patriotic note, the milkshakes are a must, and service comes with a big smile.

Expensive and not up to much
Paid £23 for 2 burgers, fries and soft drink. Asked not to have mayo or mustard but my request was ignored. I have tasted better burgers at Burger King.
