THE ROSE LOUNGE WILL BE CLOSED FOR REFURBISHMENT FROM 18 FEBRUARY - 12 MAY 2019.
Afternoon tea, that great tradition so beloved of ‘les rosbifs’, is given a French twist at the Sofitel’s Rose Lounge. ‘La tea en rose’, as it’s known, could not be more in keeping with the setting – and ultra-feminine, pink and cream drawing room set off by displays of fragrant roses and the sound of live harp music. Served on a covetable and lovely pink-china tea service (Wedgwood, naturally), the spread includes four delicate little finger sandwiches (the fillings change with the seasons), Parisienne pastries and homemade scones with rose-scented raspberry jam. The whole experience costs £28 – or £32 with a typically girly cocktail of Champagne with rose and lychee. The Rose Lounge is one of few venues to serve blends by London’s wonderful Postcard Teas, so savour every sip.
