With glorious uninterrupted views over the River Thames, & a location less than three minutes’ walk from Hampton Court Palace, the creaky old Carlton Mitre hotel makes an ideal stopping point,
both for corporate types & weary tourists. In terms of food, there’s not much to choose between the hotel’s two dining venues – the more formal Riverside Restaurant & the brasserie. Both
share several dishes in common, but the restaurant, with its smart service, is more suitable for business meals or posh family lunches, when cod loin poached in red wine, or roasted duck breast
with sweet potato mash, could take centre stage. The brasserie, with its sometimes ‘iffy” service, is better for get-togethers with friends over a bottle of wine & a plate of nachos or a
burger.
