Jo and Paul Bycroft have a passionate belief that Lincoln deserves a location that is ‘as good’ if not ‘better’ than all of the places they have travelled to in the world.
Jo comes from a background in catering which started in the 80’s when her mum worked in and managed various restaurants in the city. With the encouragement from her parents she opened her own place ‘The Bowl Full’ in 2004. She met Paul in 2006 when he was still in the RAF, a career that he enjoyed for 30 years. When he retired from the airforce he joined Jo in the business and in 2015 they opened ‘The Optimist’ together.
The need for a bigger and better location came in 2017 when ‘The Pessimist’ was born, a place where your glass will always be half full (or more!)
With extensive knowledge of the grape and grain, a flair for food and well-practised in the art of entertaining, Jo and Paul ensure a drinking and dining experience like no other. Always welcoming, warm and witty, if you don’t already know them, you’ll soon count the couple as friends
