About

The trio behind some of Manchester’s most successful bars – such as The Liars Club, and Crazy Pedro’s – have relaunched The Bay Horse Tavern in the Northern Quarter as a modern take on a Victorian pub. This renowned Manchester institution has been fully refurbished with a cosy basement dining area and quirky fittings. The menu features classic British dishes highlighting locally sourced produce, including suckling pig, chicken and beef from the rotisserie or small plates such as ox cheek on toast; bread is baked in-house daily. We enjoyed robust, hearty plates of rotisserie rib-eye of beef and suckling pig, with sides of buttery mash, beef-dripping chips, meaty gravy and creamy cauliflower cheese. Desserts, such as fruit crumble and custard, are equally comforting. Drinks focus on locally produced beer, wines by the glass, and Manchester gins paired with fruit, botanicals and tonics. A new lease of life for this humble local boozer.
