This “little piece of Spain in Walthamstow” is now so popular that it’s had to double in size to accommodate its tapas-hungry punters. The new deli room is handy for those without bookings or anyone wanting a quick snack, while regulars still cram around the tables with their pretty tiled tops in the main eating area. The menu is pan-Hispanic and exhaustive, offering three kinds of paella, shellfish every which way, plenty of interesting specials and a solid bedrock of “delicious authentic tapas”: crispy chicken croquetas; chorizo and lentil stew; mussels steamed with lemon; patatas bravas and Padrón peppers followed by crema catalana. The kitchen makes a decent fist of things and carries out its duties without pretence – exactly as a decent local should. Prices are low and portions large, with plenty of Spanish wines and sherries behind the bar.
