Sumptuous decor, attentive service and a good value lunch menu make this an attractive, if quirky, choice for a central London meal. The central location makes it perfect before or after a shopping trip or business meeting and a table by the window gives a good view over Cavendish Square. The public restaurant is still little known, so you're well away from crowds. Recherche is the word.

A grand place to eat.
A good menu. Not too fancy, especially compared to the setting.
The wine list is decent.
It's a fun place. I always enjoy going. And with the added bonus of being above a night club & bar, it's a one stop shop for a night out.
Been a few times. Will go again.

No.5 is a great bolt-hole for an upmarket and private lunch or dinner in the Oxford Circus area. Not many people know it’s open to the public so guests feel privileged to be invited there. The sumptuous surroundings and well spaced tables add to the feeling of luxury.
At lunch it is never too busy and the food is good modern Italian, if not particularly exciting. Pricing is a little on the high side, for mains, but there are also a lot of better value pasta dishes. Service is on the button as it never gets too busy. At dinner the deep red dining room and plush seating s really comes into its own, complemented by the chi-chi clientele.
Also note that the bars are open to non-members for free, except at weekends where they charge £20 to enter the building. Drop in during the rest of the week and have the experience for nothing. Bar closes 3am.
