Diwali is the ancient Hindu festival of lights, which celebrates the triumph of good over evil (and is a rather good excuse for eating a lot). London’s restaurant scene is ready for the festivities, with some truly delicious Indian food on the cards; so whether you’re celebrating Diwali or you’re just a culture vulture, light up your life with these Indian restaurants.

You can find Diwali celebrations at plenty of dining hotspots this weekend – Gymkhana (above) in Mayfair is staying open until 2am from Thursday to Saturday, providing packs of cards for guests to play Flush at their tables, alongside a late-night menu and a drinks trolley. Meanwhile, Chutney Mary and Veeraswamy (below) are both serving special menus, featuring the likes of prawn biryani with black rice, and lobster curry.
