To you, it might be another grey, muggy Monday morning. In the restaurant world it is a Big Day. Two of this year’s most hotly anticipated restaurants, Le Chabanais and Taberna do Mercado, are gearing up for business. And you really don’t want to miss this. Read on to find out more…
Le Chabanais, Mayfair (above)
The phones are going to be red hot today as the English outpost of clever Parisian bistro Le Chateaubriand opens its reservation line. Expect deconstructed classic French dishes from Basque chef Inaki Aizpitarte, beautifully presented and set to become a new favourite on the Mayfair dining scene. Tables across the Channel are hard to come by so don’t hang about.
Taberna do Mercado, Spitalfields
The latest offering from chef Nuno Mendes (above, of celebrity haunt Chiltern Firehouse) fully opens today. A small, casual dining in the heart of Old Spitalfields Market, this 40-cover, all-day, informal E1 hangout features food and wine from Mendes’ native Portugal. If his track record is anything to go by, the restaurant will be packed in no time. Better make sure you’re part of that crowd.
