Two-Michelin-starred chef Nathan Outlaw will launch his first London venture at The
Capital Hotel in Knightsbridge this October.
The chef’s flagship restaurant, Restaurant Nathan Outlaw, in Rock, Cornwall, is consistently voted one
of the top restaurants in the UK; this year, it ranked number eight in Square Meal’s ‘Hit List UK’, which celebrates the
best restaurants beyond the M25.
However, the chef’s London venture – called Outlaw's Seafood & Grill at The Capital – will be more akin to the informal style and simple seafood dishes of the chef’s other Rock restaurant (of the same name).
Outlaw’s London menu will offer sustainable catches from around the UK – from Cornish crab on toast, to grilled lemon sole with potted brown-shrimp butter, or Port Isaac lobster. Day-to-day running
of the kitchen will be overseen by chef Pete Biggs, who has worked with Outlaw for 10 years. Outlaw meanwhile will divide his time between his Cornwall and London restaurants.
Outlaw is not the first UK chef to have established himself outside London before setting up in the capital; illustrious predecessors include The Fat Duck’s Heston Blumenthal, who launched Dinner by Heston Blumenthal in January 2011, and L’Enclume’s Simon Rogan, who regularly visits London to oversee his ‘extended pop-up’ Roganic, in Marylebone.
Outlaw told Square Meal he and his team were excited to be coming to London. ‘Both Pete and I are hoping to create one of the city’s best fish restaurants,’ he said. ‘We’ll be bringing some of the
incredible Cornish ingredients we’ve been working with over the past 10 years – but we’ll also be exploring seafood from other parts of the UK.’
In preparation for the arrival of Outlaw's Seafood & Grill, The Capital’s dining room will undergo a
refurbishment from Monday 10 September.
Outlaw's Seafood & Grill at The Capital will open on 2 October; booking lines open on 1 September.
