NOVEMBER 2011: Gold-fingered chef and restaurateur Mark Hix is to work with another hotel – this time American group Thompson – when it launches its first UK venture in January. The hotel will
offer a Belgravian branch of Hix’s eponymous restaurant in Soho, with a fun menu that’s more ‘off-piste’ than the chef’s usual true-Brit cooking style. A second version of super-cool cocktail
destination Mark’s Bar is also in the pipeline, with a cigar garden thrown in for good measure. With words like ‘edgy’ and ‘bohemian’ being bandied about, Hix #2 looks set to be anything but a
staid hotel dining room.
