Although it seems unlikely that there are any restaurateurs out there who haven’t yet had their 15 minutes of
fame on programmes from Raymond Blanc’s The Restaurant and MasterChef: The Professionals to Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, Marco Pierre White has gone and got himself some
volunteers for a new show that aims to find the UK’s best specimens.
Kitchen Wars, which airs this summer on Channel 5, will see couples (either business- or real-life partners) take on a series of challenges, from regional auditions in a mobile kitchen
through to semi-finals in which the contestants cook and serve 75 diners in three Kitchen Wars restaurants. The four couples who make it to the final will battle to impress both the British
public and celebrity judges in one final test, taking place over two days.
White said: ‘Really good restaurants depend on the partnership between the chef and front-of-house team. This is the first time I’ll be judging professional restaurateurs.’ We’d like to bet that
the fierily opinionated chef won’t find himself at a loss for words…
