As much fun as the Christmas period is, everybody knows that all of those presents, meals out and parties can end up costing rather a lot. One hotel in the Lake District is here to spread a bit of Christmas cheer though, offering the chance to get paid for eating its luxury festive afternoon tea.
The Daffodil hotel is hosting a competition for one lucky winner to become an official taste tester for its new Christmas afternoon tea. The winner of the competition will be paid £100 to try the afternoon tea offering and will also enjoy a complimentary one night’s stay in the hotel for themselves and a plus one.
The Daffodil is quite the attractive spot, home to beautiful lakeside views, an on-site spa which you’ll have access to, and just a short walk from the village of Grasmere. During your visit, you’ll try the hotel’s Christmas afternoon tea and then be asked to give a detailed account of your experience to The Daffodil’s pastry chef.
On the menu, you’ll discover a selection of savoury and sweet options. From the savoury side of things, expect brie and cranberry tarts, turkey and bacon sliders, and chicken parfait liver cones. There will also be beetroot and goat’s cheese scones, alongside serrano and cream cheese mille-feuille.
Once you’ve scoffed all of the savouries, you’ll be able to tuck into the tempting sweet treats on offer – think a chocolate and pistachio Christmas tree, a coconut snowman, and red velvet and peppermint whoopee pies. Naturally, a selection of tea is available to try, while you can also enjoy a glass of fizz to feel extra festive.
The only catch of the whole experience is that you’ll have to pay for your travel to the Lake District out of your own pocket (we still reckon this is a pretty good deal though).
