Blixen in Spitalfields is now open

Blixen in Spitalfields has officially opened. Following a soft-launch, the 'informal take on a grand European brasserie' from Clive Watson and Justin Gilbert is now ready to take your order. Blixen features a ground floor dining room and bar with an open kitchen and garden as well as a lower ground floor cocktail bar and private dining room. The menu spans breakfast through to dinner, including snacks, brunch and cake. Breakfast features coffee from Fresh Coffee Company to go with dishes such as blueberry pancakes or toasted banana bread with whipped butter. Croque-Madames and kale, beetroot and walnut salads feature on the lunch menu and dinner is classically split into starters, mains and dessert. Mains include crispy pork belly, sea bream and half poussin and if you’re feeling adventurous, go for a starter of crispy frog’s legs.

Co-owner Clive Watson said, ‘Our aim is for Blixen to be a place where you want to be all day and evening. We have put just as much emphasis on our tea and coffee as we have our dinner menu; as much thought into the music as to the lighting; and will treat our staff with as much care as our guests. Hopefully this will be a space that people can use for all occasions – quick ‘coffee and a chat’ work meetings, dates, birthday celebrations, mid-week suppers. We wanted to create a restaurant our friends and family will enjoy spending time in.’

This is Watson’s first independent venture away from Village London (The Garrison, Village East, The Riding House Café).
