The ground floor of glam Mayfair eatery MNKY HSE is home to its stylish bar, where low tables, plush velvet seats and expansive sofas make for a decadent lounging experience. Smart interiors with original art, floral arrangements and a glossy bar top, show a subversive sense of humour – check out the framed painting of that cheeky monkey with a hand grenade. The monkey theme continues through the drinks list, with original house cocktails like the Gorilla Love: Ketel One Citron, organic cucumber vodka and grenadine shaken with fresh watermelon and topped with Prosecco. Twists on classics include the mezcal-based Negromante, with Marolo Chinato vermouth, Campari and grapefruit bitters and a floral Pisco and Jasmine Sour. There’s also an on-trend list of ‘MNKY Botanicals’ creative G&T serves – we loved spicy Monkey 47 gin with Merchant’s Heart Hibiscus Tonic, plum slices and edible flowers. Elsewhere the pricey wine list has a good selection of South American bottles, while a cool mix of jazz, funk, house and disco keeps the party swinging into the small hours.
