‘A true taste of Sardinia’ is the promise at this family-run and family-friendly restaurant/pizzeria, where authentic curios, sunny artworks and the odd splash of bright paint set the scene for some decently rendered food at “reasonable prices”. With “lovely owners” and equally lovely staff keeping things rolling along at a rapid pace, there’s much to enjoy here – notably the “best pizzas” served piping hot from a custom-built stone oven. Traditional Sardinian pasta is a good call (malloreddus with coarse sausage, tomato sauce and Pecorino is a classic), and fans also single out the “great seafood” dishes – perhaps char-grilled marinated calamari, Sardinian fish stew with fregola or pan-fried John Dory with potatoes, tomatoes, olives and pine nuts. Carnivores might veer towards the porchetta (grilled stuffed pork belly with sauté potatoes and salsa verde), while desserts include Sicilian cannoli as well as interlopers such as coconut crème brûlée and plum tarte Tatin.
