About

Found on a former Jackson & Rye site, this camp ode to Soho’s LGBTQ identity serves up plenty of fun and frolics. Sleek and sexy interiors see vivid photographic portraits of prominent female figures lining the walls, while guests can get cosy on chocolate brown leather banquettes which are well suited to groups. Other stylish touches include a glittering chandelier hanging from the ceiling and a neon pink sign which reads ‘nothing to see here’.

Open from midday, the food menu at Martha’s takes its inspiration from the USA, but veers towards slightly more upmarket and traditional American fare, rather than the expected burgers and fries (although those do appear on the menu too).

Retro starters include crab cakes, calamari fritti and a shrimp cocktail, while mains see the likes of fried chicken served with potatoes, spinach and a truffled honey sauce, or various steaks from the grill. You can bulk out your meal with typical American-style sides such as mac ‘n’ cheese and French fries, while the drinks list majors in beers and wines. There’s a curated selection of house cocktails too, though, each christened with cheeky names such as Lady of the Night, which is a gin-based sip topped up with plum liqueur, raspberry gin jam, lemon, egg white and bitters.

If you’re on the hunt for brunch – and at the weekend, who isn’t? – you can swing by Martha’s to enjoy a hearty menu of US brunch classics. Expect to tuck into the tempting likes of fried chicken and waffles drizzled with maple syrup, or a spicy huevos rancheros. Plant-based diners aren’t left behind either, with vegan and vegetarian options available on both the brunch and à la carte menus. To get your meat-free frill, try the likes of a vegan burger sandwiched between a potato bun, or honey and miso crispy kale dusted with dried cranberries and pecan nuts.
