About

Legendary London department store Harrods has really upped the ante with its food and beverage outlets in recent years and the trend seems to be continuing with this modern British restaurant from Michelin-starred chef Jason Atherton, found on the ground floor of the shopping mecca.

Harrods Social is the first of Atherton’s The Social Company (Pollen Street Social, City Social etc.) to find its home in a department store and seats just over 100 diners in a space that screams ‘laid back luxury’. Once inside, guests are greeted by sleek marble topped tables, curved leather booth seating that’s ideal for small groups and a standalone bar which is flanked by high-back stools and bathed in attractive lighting.

As for the menu at Harrods Social, you can expect an a la carte which champions the best of British produce and makes use of seasonal ingredients. Atherton and his team have worked with some of the UK’s top suppliers to bring the menu to life, which feels fitting at a time when the British food and restaurant industry needs as much help as it can get.

To start, order the likes of Cumbrian beef tartare with sourdough croutons, pickled onions and goat’s curd or Devon crab with nashi pear and a lemon gel and coriander salad. Main courses meanwhile are divided up between meat, fish and pasta dishes - think a Wagyu beef sandwich paired with wasabi mayonnaise and triple-cooked chips or a whole Cornish lobster with Champagne risotto. To finish, tuck into the indulgent likes of a Tahitian vanilla creme brulee or a Valrhona chocolate tart.

If you have the family in tow there is a dedicated children’s menu of spaghetti, burgers and the like, while grown ups can peruse an extensive list of international wines, house made cocktails and speciality coffees.
