The latest enterprise from the Living Ventures group is a colonial-style bar and restaurant in the renowned Grade II-listed Manchester Reform Club building, which opened in 1871. The 120-cover dining room offers an all-day menu while the Long Bar, inspired by Raffles Hotel in Singapore, provides bespoke cocktails until late. The impressive space blends tropical influences with Old-World grandeur, making a fitting setting for high tea, the classic Sunday lunch or the à la carte menu. We enjoyed an elegantly presented starter of chicken and spring onion gyoza with soy, sweet potato and miso, followed by a generously portioned tempura Szechuan sea bass featuring tender fillets within perfectly crisp, lightly spiced batter. A notable side of vivid green asparagus spears was drizzled with rich yuzu hollandaise. To finish, sherry trifle was enlivened by fragrant hibiscus, tangy lemon curd crème fraîche and raspberry sherbet. The indulgent yet relaxed vibe here is another draw, well-suited to business or pleasure dining. A welcome addition to the city centre.
